October Soup & Scripture Recap - with info on Hope for the Homeless

Image
Thank you to all the ladies who came out (and brought food) for our monthly Soup & Scripture event!  For October, we had a "Socktober" theme (complete with roses made from socks as the centerpieces) to collect socks for the Hope for the Homeless ministry. Socks are often one of the most needed items and we so appreciate the ladies who brought and were able to donate 84 pairs of new socks to those in need this fall! If you missed out, Hope Kidz is also partnering with Hope for the Homeless this month and has a collection basket for new socks located outside of the Clubhouse/Garage that you can drop off a donation of socks any Sunday in October.  Chuck & Patty Hasenstab attended and shared with us more information about their ministry - Hope for the Homeless. Chuck gave us some background as to how they got started, how they serve today, and ways for women at Hope Church to get involved. To learn more about the work they are doing for the homeless in downtown Cleveland,...

Ministry Spotlight - Cards Ministry

Image
This week we connected with Barbara Lewis who coordinates our  Card Ministry  at Hope Church. Read below to learn more about this ministry and learn how you can be involved! 1. Can you tell us a little bit about this ministry – what do you do?   The Card Ministry began three years ago.  It was started by Patti Basak as a way to connect to those in the church who were in need of additional encouragement because of illness, loss or acknowledgment of a special occasion. Patti moved just prior to COVID and I became the organizer at her request.  We have three ladies and one teen who create our beautiful cards and six ladies and one teen who send out the various cards.  From January until now we have sent out 52 cards showing God’s love for his people.   During COVID we met a few times on Zoom to pray and encourage each other, but my hope is to find a monthly time and date to gather in person.  COVID also gave u...

Ministry Spotlight - Meals Ministry

Image
This week we connected with Lois Miles who coordinates our Meals Ministry at Hope Church. Read below to learn more about this ministry and get more info about how you can be involved!    1. Can you tell us a little bit about this ministry -- what do you do?   Our team of volunteers provide meals for those in our church body who have a special need.  We use the program ‘Take Them A Meal’ ( www.takethemameal.com ) to organize a list of dates for the meals and important information like allergies, etc. The church office administrator creates the meal request once they have the needed information from the recipient (food allergies, likes/dislikes, how long they need the meals, etc.)  The program will provide a link which is emailed to the meals team. The team can access the form on the website to enter the date they want to provide a meal.  Team members can see what others plan to provide so the family is not getting spaghetti 3 nights in a row.  We typic...

Ministry Spotlight - Hands of Hope

Image
For our first Ministry Spotlight, we connected with Casey Bloomfield to learn more about the Hands of Hope  ministry.  Our hope is these will make you aware of initiatives in our church and community that exist to help others. We hope you'll be encouraged and seek ways to use your gifts for God's glory.   1. Can you tell us a little bit about this ministry -- what do you do? The Hands of Hope ministry meets every second Thursday of the month (except July and August) in the church cafĂ© from 6:30-8 pm.  Anyone is welcome to join.  We bring whatever project we are working on and mostly socialize while we work.  Mostly people make prayer shawls and baby blankets, but we have gotten hats (baby and adult), booties, and other things too.  If you feel called to make something, go for it!  We also pray over the things we make.   2. How long have you been involved and why are you passionate about it?  I have been a part of the Hands of H...
