Devo - Grateful for Manna

 Numbers 11:6

“But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.”

Am I living in a blessing as if it were a curse? Like the Israelites, who wandered through the  dessert, complained about their Manna.

This was God’s provision, but they turned it into a curse.

Because it was familiar.

Because it was predictable.

Because it had to be managed every day.

Because at heart they were short sighted and disappointed and tired and far from home.

They longed for their captivity.

Because it was familiar.

Because it was predictable.

Because it could be managed every day.

Because at heart they were short sighted and disappointed and tired and longing for home.

And I too can complain for a better house or a better job or a better paycheck or a better life.

Because this is all too familiar.

Because this is all too predictable.

Because this all must be managed every day.

Because at heart I am short sighted and disappointed and tired and this world is not my home.

The Israelites fell when their immediate expectations had not been met, immediately.

So can I. When this all becomes too much and the dreams that I’ve had are still just dreams.

But now I will praise You for the very things that yesterday made me stumble.

I will look at my manna as Your loving provision for today while You pave the road before me.

Because to You I am quite familiar.

Because to You I am very predictable.

Because I can release myself to You care every day.

Because at heart You are all- seeing and all-knowing and all powerful and ever present.
