Meet the Leadership Team - Kathy Hershey

Meet Kathy Hershey

1. How long have you been attending Hope Church and what is one thing you love about Hope Church?

I've been attending Hope for about 10 years and there's so much I love about Hope so it's hard to narrow it down to one thing! But at the top of my list for me are the spirit of worship and inspiring messages of our services. I come away every week filled with hope and challenged to grow in my faith.

2. Why did you want to be on the women's leadership team?

Several years ago, I wanted to be able to serve at Hope in some way and I felt a call to serve on the women's ministry team. When I asked about it, I was told that they were just putting together a team to lead the ministry so it was perfect timing to join the team. Coincidence? I think not! I love how God guides us to serve in just the right time and place to help us grow and to fill a ministry need. His timing and plans are always best!

3. What has been one of your favorite ladies ministry event and why?

I really enjoy so many of our events, but I think one type of event that stands out for me was the "Christmas shopping with a purpose" events we've done in the past. It was so cool to be able to support other ministries and buy meaningful gifts for those on my Christmas list, a win-win for sure!

4. What is something you feel like God has been teaching you?

I've noticed that God has me in leadership roles in many areas of my life, so I've been focusing more on how to be a better leader. God has pointed me to many really helpful insights lately and affirmed me in meaningful ways. I still have so much to learn but it's really cool when I've been reading the Bible and a devotional or book, and God reinforces a promise or point for me to learn.

5. Anything else you want to share about yourself? Something unique or interesting, or perhaps something you like to do for fun?

During the recent stay at home times, I've started making sourdough bread, and pretty much anything that uses sourdough starter. There's definitely a technique to it and it's a been fun (and delicious) project to figure it out. If anyone has any sourdough tips or recipes they love, please share! Here's one of my favorite sourdough recipes: Sourdough Blueberry Muffins. They rise up beautifully and taste delicious!!

We hope you enjoyed meeting our leadership team and we look forward to connecting with you at a future women's ministry event. We all volunteer our time because we care about you connecting with other women at our church and we want to see you grow in authentic relationships with other women and with Christ! Stay tuned for future posts with devotionals, recipes, crafts, and more! Don't hesitate to say 'hi' in the comments or share ideas of posts you'd like to see in the future.
