Meet the Leadership Team - Jessica Quinn

Meet Jessica Quinn

Occupation: Stay-at-home mom

Family Info: My husband Andrew, and our new baby boy Trevor (born in July 2020).

1. How long have you been attending Hope Church and what is one thing you love about Hope Church?

I have been attending Hope Church since 2018 when my husband and I moved to Ohio from Pennsylvania. We were drawn to Hope because of the caring and authentic community, and have felt so warmly welcomed into the church family.

2. Why did you want to be on the women's leadership team?

I said 'yes' when I was invited to join the team because I've seen in my own life the importance of being connected. I regularly attended women's events at my last church and saw the way that it helped not only grow me closer to other women, but closer in my walk with God. I hope to help create thoughtful and quality events that women can enjoy attending, but also learn to authentically connect with others and with God.

3. What has been one of your favorite ladies ministry event and why?

My first ladies ministry event at Hope was Soup and Scripture. I attended not knowing anyone which was both nerve-wrecking at a little awkward. But I'm so glad I went! By consistently attending each month, I was able to enjoy delicious soup, learn from the life experience of other women who were speaking, and slowly meet women that I would then run into on a Sunday morning. It helped (with time) to make church feel small and personal in the best way!

4. What is something you feel like God has been teaching you?

This past year has been a transition to a new season of life for me. I've left working full-time to begin the season of motherhood! I've had to wrestle with where I find my identity, let go of the worry of what others think about me, and actively resist the temptation to compare. It's been a season that forces me to slow down and be present. But now I'm still seeking God's direction as to how to be purposeful and used by Him when most days look the same and we still spend most of our time home in our bubble. Recently, it's been frequent reminders that it all starts with my heart -- and a need to shed my tendency to be quick to criticize or correct.

5. Anything else you want to share about yourself? Something unique or interesting, or perhaps something you like to do for fun?

I grew up in Michigan and so none of my immediate family is in Ohio, but we have a monthly book club where we read a book and meet to discuss it at the end of the month via Zoom. We just started our sixth year! Some of my favorite books we've read have been Born a Crime (by Trevor Noah), Becoming (by Michelle Obama), and The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry (by John Mark Comer).

I'm an Enneagram 1, I've recently gotten into yoga, and I LOVE Aldi.

I'm also the unofficial editor of our blog! So post in the comments to say hi!! Let me know if you have any feedback, if we have anything in common, or if there's anything else you want to know about me!
